Congratulations Rajaie Nassar, MS!
Jan 30, 2025

Raj defended his thesis titled "Three-Dimensional Loss Effects of a Solenoidal Inductor with Distributed Gaps" after conducting research with CPES professor Khai Ngo. After defending, Raj worked at CPES as a Research Associate.
Raj was only here a short time, but he made a tremendous impact.
Raj came to CPES as a Fulbright Scholar, a highly competitive and prestigious program with a mission and global focus strongly aligned with CPES.
Raj's research, supported by the ARPAe-funded SCALED project and the High Density Integration (HDI) mini-consortium, resulted in two publications (so far) and two invention disclosures (patents pending).
He was also a leader among his peers as evidenced when he coordinated CPES' involvement in Virginia Tech's College of Engineering Center for the Enhancement of Engineering Diversity (CEED) UPWARDS Summer Program in 2024. The program aimed to increase awareness of VT engineering opportunities for more than 60 minority high-school students.
Asked to reflect on his experiences at CPES, Raj said, "I am grateful for my advisor, Dr. Khai Ngo; this would not have been possible without his guidance and mentorship. I am also thankful for my committee members, Dr. GQ Lu and Dr. Christina DiMarino, for their constructive feedback and a chance to work on a very cool project."
He continued, "I am truly privileged to have worked and learned a lot at the Center for Power Electronics Systems, Virginia Tech alongside very intelligent and kind friends and colleagues."
Thank you and best wishes Raj!
