Congratulations to Narayan Rajagopal, Ph.D.!
Aug 22, 2025

Narayan Rajagopal earned his PhD under the mentorship of Christina DiMarino and has joined GE Vernova as a Senior Engineer.
Narayan’s dissertation is titled "Integration of Power Electronics Building Block Using Polyimide Substrates" in he which investigates a new approach to power converter design that leverages the capabilities of SiC devices through a common substrate, a novel packaging strategy that integrates all critical components of a power converter onto a single, multifunctional platform.
"My time at CPES has been a truly unique and enriching experience,” said Narayan. “I’ve had the opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute meaningfully to the field of power electronics. I’m deeply grateful to my advisor, Dr. Christina DiMarino, for her invaluable guidance and the many opportunities she provided throughout my research journey. I’m also thankful for the lifelong friends and collaborators I met during my time at CPES.”
Additionally, Narayan had formative experiences outside of his research as well. “CPES offered me opportunities that few graduate students experience, including serving as Chair of the CPES Conference and contributing to the lab’s expansion into Northern Virginia. The skills, knowledge, and work ethic I developed, both in and out of the lab, have profoundly shaped my career and life path. As I move into the next chapter, I look forward to continuing my collaboration with CPES students and faculty to advance the frontier of power electronics and help build a more electrified future."
CPES proudly extends our best wishes to Narayan for continued professional success in the next exciting phase of his career and our sincere appreciation for all that he contributed to our center!
