CPES Researchers Earn 1st and 2nd place TPEL Prize Paper Awards

Jan 29, 2026

The Center for Power Electronics Systems (CPES) is proud to congratulate its researchers on being selected for both a 1st and 2nd IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics Prize Paper Awards, an outstanding recognition of the center’s impact on the field of power electronics.

The 1st Prize Paper Award was presented for “A High-Efficiency High-Density Three-Phase CLLC Resonant Converter With a Universally Derived Three-Phase Integrated Transformer for On-Board-Charger Application” by Feng Jin, Ahmed Nabih, Tianlong Yuan, and Qiang Li (IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, Vol. 39, No. 4, April 2024, pp. 4350–4366). This work advances high-power-density, high-efficiency converter design for electric vehicle on-board chargers through innovative three-phase integration and resonant architecture.

The 2nd Prize Paper Award was awarded to “Reduction of CM Noise by Minimizing Near-Field Effects in a DC-DC Converter” by Tyler McGrew, Shuo Wang, and Qiang Li (IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, Vol. 39, No. 4, April 2024, pp. 4210–4223). The paper provides important insights and practical techniques for mitigating common-mode noise by addressing near-field coupling effects, with strong implications for EMI-aware power converter design.

Together, these honors highlight the breadth and depth of CPES research—from high-density power conversion to electromagnetic compatibility—and reflect the continued leadership of CPES in advancing fundamental science and impactful engineering solutions.

Congratulations to all the authors on this exceptional achievement.
