CPES conference
CPES successfully concluded its 2017 Annual Conference on April 11! The program began on Sunday morning with a special session on Wide Bandgap High-Power Converters and Systems, and continued in the afternoon with CPES faculty members Qiang Li and Rolando Burgos, along with Co-director Dushan Boroyevich presenting two tutorials. The Annual Conference kicked off on Monday morning with a welcome address by Dr. Thanassis Rikakis (Executive Vice President and Provost at Virginia Tech), followed by three invited presentations and four additional presentations on CPES Future Directions, which opened up a conversation on establishing a major international initiative for research and education on electronic power systems. In the afternoon, attendees transferred to the CPES labs, where researchers showcased the hardware and research they had performed at the Center over the past year in Lab Dialogue Sessions which included over 70 dialogue poster displays. On Wednesday, CPES researchers gave 13 oral presentations during four technical sessions. The conference concluded with an Awards Dinner to recognize the best student presenters from this year's Lab Dialogue and Technical Sessions (see below for the winners!).
