Congratulating CPES graduate - Fang Chen

Fang Chen completed his Ph.D program in April 2017. His defense presentation and dissertation, "Control of DC Power Distribution Systems and Low-Voltage Grid-Interface Converter Design," are available to CPES members via password access.

Fang received the Bachelor's and Master's degrees in electrical engineering from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, in 2009 and 2012, respectively. He joined the Center for Power Electronics Systems (CPES) at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA, USA, in 2012, and received his Ph.D. degree in 2017. From 2015 to 2016, he was a Guest Student in the Department of Energy Technology, Aalborg University, Aalborg, Denmark.

His research interests include operation and control of dc power distribution systems, net-zero-energy buildings, and design of ac-dc converters.

Upon graduation, Fang has joined Tesla in Palo Alto, California, as a Senior Electronic Design Engineer.

Fang Chen enjoys playing badminton, swimming and traveling.
