CPES congratulates our most recent graduate, Chi Li!

Chi Li completed his Ph.D. program in July 2018. His dissertation, "Impedance-Based Stability Analysis in Power Systems with Multiple STATCOMs in Proximity" and defense presentation are available online to CPES Principal Plus, Principal, and Associate members via password access.

Chi received his Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China in 2012. He joined the Center for Power Electronics Systems at Virginia Tech as a graduate research assistant the same year. Chi received his M.S degree in 2015, and completed his Ph.D degree in 2018. His research interests include virtual synchronous machine control and impedance-based stability analysis for grid-tied converters and power systems. Upon graduation, Chi will return to Tsinghua University as a Postdoc Researcher.

During his time at CPES, Chi served as the logistic chair for CPES Conferences from 2014 to 2016. Besides working in the lab, Chi is an experienced hiker, enjoys cooking and beer tasting, and likes to play DOTA, video games, board games and Call of Cthulhu.
