Congratulations to Pranav Raj Prakash on earning his Ph.D.!

Pranav successfully defended his dissertation, “High-Density, High-Efficiency Resonant Converters for Power Delivery to Modern Datacenters,” tackling one of the most critical challenges of our time: how to deliver power more efficiently to the rapidly expanding world of AI, cloud computing, and high-performance GPUs.
As datacenters transition from 48V architectures toward 800V distribution to support megawatt-scale computing, Pranav’s research advances the core technologies that make this shift possible. His work:
- Identified and resolved subtle high-frequency loss mechanisms in multi-capacitor converter systems
- Demonstrated an 800V GaN-based converter with fully integrated PCB magnetics achieving exceptional efficiency and power density
- Introduced innovative PCB-integrated transformer structures enabling ultra-compact, high-current power modules for next-generation GPUs
- Developed a smarter control technique to significantly reduce hold-up energy storage requirements, improving system reliability while lowering cost and size
Together, these contributions support a more compact, efficient, and sustainable future for large-scale computing.
Pranav conducted his research under the mentorship of Prof. Qiang Li.
