Dr. Yuhao Zhang is the Shirish S. Sathaye Associate Professor at the Center for Power Electronics Systems (CPES), the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Virginia Tech. Before joining Virginia Tech, he worked as a postdoctoral associate at the Microsystems Technologies Laboratories at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 2017 to 2018. He received his Ph. D. and S. M., both in electrical engineering from MIT in 2017 and 2013, respectively. Prior to joining MIT, he received his B. S. in physics from Peking University in 2011 with the highest honor. His research interest is at the intersection of power electronics, micro/nano-electronic devices, and advanced semiconductor materials. He has published over 170 journal articles and conference proceedings and is an inventor of six granted U. S. patents. His multiple research work on power devices has been covered by the media globally over 80 times, including Nature Electronics, Semiconductor Today, Compound Semiconductors, EE Times, etc. He is coauthor of over 10 prize, highlight, cover, and feature papers in the IEEE Society, American Physical Society, and Electronic Material Society.

The intersection of power electronics, micro/nano-electronic devices, and advanced semiconductor materials, as well as machine learning assisted material-device-circuit co-design and co-optimization
