We are excited to announce the preliminary agenda for the 2023 CPES Annual Conference and connected events.

This year, the conference is preceded by a special event at the CPES DC facility, a workshop on "Moving Towards a Carbon-Free World by 2050". Virginia Tech's Power and Energy Center (PEC) Annual Meeting again follows the CPES Conference.

Existing details for each event are below. More information will be shared as it becomes available.

(April 1st & 2nd) CPES @ DC Moving Towards a Carbon-Free World by 2050

Virginia Tech Research Center - Arlington, 900 N Glebe Rd, Arlington, VA 22203
A workshop is under development, jointly organized by the European Center for Power Electronics (ECPE), the New-generation Power Electronics and System Research Consortium Japan (NPERC-J), and CPES to examine the critical role power electronics will play as the world moves towards eliminating carbon emissions.

There will also be a CPES DC Lab Tour & Dialogue Session for participants to visit with students in the CPES Electrical and Packaging Labs.

Transportation options, from Arlington to Blacksburg and return, will be available.

(April 3rd - 5th) 2023 CPES Annual Conference

Virginia Tech Inn and Whittemore Hall, Blacksburg, VA & Live Streaming Online
The Conference will showcase the CPES research performed over the past year and update our sponsors and members on project results.

In person participation provides opportunity for direct interaction between our graduate students and CPES industry partners and government collaborators.

The conference will also be live streamed online. See the agenda for the live streamed sessions.

All conference materials including technical videos, posters, and recorded presentations will be available online through the conference website and can be accessed at any time!

Conference activities begin on Monday morning, April 3rd. Sessions will run for three full days and include Invited Keynote Speakers, Tutorials, Technical paper presentation Sessions, and Lab Dialogue Sessions!

New this year is a Rap session, an interactive forum, addressing the question, "How can Industry and Academia Accelerate Innovation?"

The conference also features collaborative presentations and discussions between CPES and PEC. The first joint event, Power System Analysis, takes place during the 2023 CPES Annual Conference.

(April 6th) PEC Annual Meeting

Whittemore Hall, Blacksburg, VA
As in past years, the CPES Annual Conference will be followed on Thursday by our Virginia Tech colleagues from the Power and Energy Center (PEC). This reflects the growing collaboration between our groups and the critical synergies between power electronics and power systems.

In addition to the CPES-PEC Power System Analysis joint event, there will be a second joint event on Microgrid Building Blocks, during the PEC Annual Meeting.
