Lateral Power IC for Monolithic integration (1997)

There was another initiative at CPES in 1997, actually this work was initiated before 1997, for more integrated solution for the multi-phase VR by developing lateral power ICs so that the power device, the control device, the driver and the control IC could be integrated monolithically in the form of power IC. Since 2000, a number of products were introduced using this concept. This included products introduced by Volterra, Intersil, Linear Technology, Texas Instruments and Enpirion. These products integrated all the converter functions together, some even including the integration of magnetics, such as Enpirion. Others are integration of all the functions of the converter other than the passive components such as inductors and capacitors.
