Coupled inductor as the non-linear inductor through switching network (1999)

Year: 1999
Coupled inductors perform as a non-linear inductor in switching networks of interleaved multiphase converters. For interleaving the switching networks, the voltages across the phase inductors are different for different time ranges of a switching period. As a result, the equivalent inductances (Leq1, Leq2 and Leq3) of the coupled inductors are also different for each time ranges. Therefore, the coupled inductors behave as a non-linear inductor for each time range. By properly utilizing the non-linear inductance properties of coupled inductors, the efficiency and transient performance of the interleaved converter can be improved.
